Straits Times 160th Anniversary – Mazda 6

by on Jul.16, 2005, under General

Today I woke up at 735am. Already I had a sms sitting in my phone’s mail box. It was from Fel. She had already bought the newspaper and tell me the lucky draw entry coupon is at Home page 14.

I wanted to go and buy the Straits Times but the family has already bought it. My sister had already left home to collect her Harry Porter book. It seemed that today is a day my whole family wake up early (haha actually I am the only one who wake up late).

Anyway, I cut out the coupon and stick on the 35 letters I had collected over the past 2 weeks. It was rainning but luckily, the rain reduced to a managable drizzle when I left for ECP at 845am.

Took a train to Bedok to meet Fel who got there earlier than me. Then we took a bus there. As we were both not too sure of where to drop off, we followed a few other youths who were heading for the same place as us.

When we got there, it was already very crowded. We gave the coupons to a Straits times staff and wanted to look for a place to sit down and maybe, have some breakfast. Be it Macdonald, Coffee bean or Kopitiam, the whole place was packed with people! We walked down the road to the bowling alley which, as expected, was packed with like-minded people.

Anyway, we finally found a place to rest my hurtful tired legs where we sat chatting for about 30 minutes then we walked back to the stage area.

These pictures were taken from where we waited and we were quite far away from the stage.

The stage had some performance. While the performaners did a lousy job, the speakers did not help. It was a painful wait. Finally, the host came and ask for the father of 2 lost kids to claim his children. The 10 consolation prizes of $160 each were given out then came the final prize. The host said “34 years old”, many people started to leave. We stayed a bit to know that the lady stays in Hougang. End of all hope. I am not the one. No get rich dream.

Everyone headed for the same underpass. I managed to take a picture while I was in it.

The air in the underpass was stale and warm. I was really glad that I was able to make it to the other side of the road. Fel pointed out to me that there were actually people who crossed the ECP just to avoid the crowd at the underpass.

Time wasted.

Fel left to meet her boyfriend at the Marine parade library while I backtracked to the Bedok interchange.
I had a quick lunch and left for home in a train. My leg was killing me otherwise, I would have taken bus 30 home…

Hope I have better luck next time… icon_rolleyes
