A raintree production, Protégé is so much better than Just follow Law. I watched this with 5 of my colleagues.

The movie started with a question: Which is more scary, drugs or emptiness? Main actor Daniel Wu played an undercover cop trying to bust Andy Lau’s drug empire. Andy Lau was a drug lord in Hong Kong. There are some pretty girls in the show whom I do not know their name. There is also a cute small girl. Louis Koo played the heroin addict father of the small girl.

This show has quite a sad ending. Andy Lau killed himself after he was caught by the police. Louis Koo killed his wife with drugs and the new drug lord Daniel Wu laid a trap for him. He asked Koo to ferry drugs to Singapore where he handed Koo to the police. He had wanted to revenge the pretty lady.

The show ended with the same question that was asked at the start. This time, Daniel Wu gave the answer with his actions. He himself began to take drugs. Drugs is nothing compared to his emptiness, this is what the show is trying to say…
